  • she is too young to sing this. she may be able to physically go that high, but she will seriously mess her voice up for when she's older. if she carries on the way, she'll have nodules on her throat by the time she is 20. very sad story this one is.

  • Oh dear, she needs to be a lot more careful with her voice than this. Why don't these young singers teachers' have them singing arie antiche, Handel and Bach and the like. This fare is for much older singers.

  • Extremely talented 11 year old singer. I can't wait to hear her when she is in her mid 20's with more maturity and life experience. I know that I'm a little late to the party. Probably when this was posted she was the best 11 year old singer back in 2007. Jackie has taken that crown.

  • it breaks my heart to see teachers ruining young singers' voices in this manner. Her vocal instrument is NOT developed enough to be singing this...not to mention she cannot put any meaning into the music, since she dreams of unicorns and puppies, like all children.

BTW, I'm a music teacher and a vocal major.

  • what a bad show!

  • @peduzzi89 BUT the voice is well developed, safe and stable enough to be used to the implied extent at this age. It is not some very weak, fragile thing waiting to be destroyed by this level of appropriate usage: therein lies the myth or lack of balanced perception. What classica traditions? Other traditions have ***apparently*** worked for years too. I'm not knocking down any tradition, classcial traditions are insightful from years of knowledge! But natural vocal process has its own credit

  • @okebaram Your comment has some holes....the voice has a higher range when it's younger for the simple reason that the vocal chords are smaller...that doesn't mean singing constantly up there is appropriate. The ability to do so in a healthy way does come with age. It's a bell curve - of course when the voice gets much older it loses flexibility as does any muscle. But there's a reason that the traditions of classical voice have been around and have worked for hundreds of years.

  • jakie evancho is only 9

  • This is a VERY talented young lady. But please parents and teacher...don't push her too hard or too fast. Children really should NOT be singing opera at this age. She manages it quite well tho...

  • Hell that was good

  • @MissMollyJH Agreed! There's a video on here of her singing VERDI at 12!

  • PEOPLE, the younger voice has more natural range in all registers than the older! The lack of flexibility when the voice gets older, as well as experience in age, causes many singers to find their mix voice when they are older... this is the reason for some wrongly thinking that there is a greater flexibility or more range "development" in an older voice. Young girls singing high, with good technique, will be finding their mix earlier and safer, and be shaping their future voices for greatness!
