Vicky says that if Carl really wants to rescue her and Ryan, he better get off his cocky butt, because they're running out of air. Ryan tells her not to think about it. She asks him what he does want to think about, and he says they should talk about living. Vicky says she lives pretty good. Ryan says sometimes he wishes he lived better. Vicky says Ryan was learning there for a while. Ryan says he guesses there's still hope for him, huh? Who'd've thunk it? Vicky says she did. She never stopped believing in Ryan, but she let him down. Ryan reminds Vicky they're talking about living here. Vicky offers to tell some of her famous jokes to pass the time. Ryan tells Vicky he doesn't want her to be afraid. She tells him she's trying not to be, then asks Ryan if he ever thought about dying before. He says he thought about it all the time when he was a cop. Vicky was always afraid she'd lose Ryan to a bullet, which Ryan remembers, but she lost him to herself. Ryan tells Vicky that not a single second of the time he spent with her was a waste. Vicky is surprised that Ryan really thinks that, but he does. Ryan tells Vicky that the last place on Earth he thought he would draw his last breath was in a cave on a mountaintop with the only woman in the world he has ever loved.

Ryan wants Vicky to eat something, but she tells him she can't promise anything. Vicky then realizes that when she and Ryan were together, they never talked about God. She never asked Ryan. She's asking now, though: does Ryan believe in God? Ryan says he's really not into deathbed conversions. Vicky takes this to mean that Ryan doesn't think they're getting out of there alive. Ryan admits that he does believe in God. Vicky replies that she does too...she thinks. She finds it hard to believe that this is the way He would take her and Ryan up there. She knows she was a pain, but is this fair? Ryan says maybe God thinks it IS fair because he and Vicky are together. Vicky says it's too late, but Ryan says it's not too late. It's just forever. Ryan tells Vicky that they are not going to spend their last night on Earth digging through an avalanche with bone-handled knives. Vicky asks Ryan how he wants to spend it. Ryan replies that they're going to celebrate life and give thanks for the life they've had and they're going to have that party. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.
