Another outstanding live performance by Gary "U.S." Bonds on the ABC TV late night comedy show, 'Fridays'. Introduced by 'Fridays' cast member, Darrow Igus.

  • I haven't heard this song in ages! Didn't Bruce Springsteen write this song for Gary? I vaguely remember something like that. I know that Bruce would do "Quarter to Three" in his(back in the day)4-5 hour shows!

  • another under rated artist...

  • It's Jole Blon, not Jolie Blond, and Springsteen and Bonds put out

this version in 1981 for the Dedication LP, not 1982.

  • U ROCK ,UR THE MAN GARY,,GOD BLESS

  • calchick82 is correct. Jole Blon is an old Cajun classic performed regularly by various Zydeco and Louisiana-style bands including the great, late Clifton Chenier.

  • @calchick82 Yes he did. Saw them perform it together Awesome.

  • @calchick82 Moon Mullican did the original "rock" version back in 1946. Bruce and Gary just collaborated on this one back in '82. One of the bigger early 80's hits from Friendly City Rock, WTCS, Fairmont, WV...

  • George Ruiz on bass...Rusty Cloud on Keyboards...incomparable players....goose bumps....all over...

  • @calchick82 Jolie Blond is a traditional Cajun song.
