Store bottled water..The water lines in most ares will be destroyed during a major earthquake...Drinking water will be scarce..No one can survive long without drinking water..

Ur living on beachfront property. Most of cascadia will crumble into the ocean. Unless you live at least 200 miles away from the shore your as good as gone. My family was going to move there but I was terrified of the thought of port angeles being swallowed by the gorda sibduction zone.

Another scary warning to paralyze us into trusting the governments will help. These things happen as the earth is alive and moving, your best bet is to prep and be ready to survive without relying on anyone but your immediate group

The problem with prediction of this fault zone is, we simply don't know it's history--we don't know when the last time (or last several times) before 1812 it let go-- because obviously the only people around then were Native Americans, and they left us with no records with dates.

Since this intraplate fault zone moves far more slowly than tectonic plate boundary zones like Cascadia, the best answer is the 1895 6.0 and the recent 5-ish earthquakes are still aftershocks of the 1811-1812 quakes.

Common sense, and basic disaster preparedness, are what is needed. For any potential disaster, people should have enough water (gallon per day per person, more for pets) for several days at least, canned food (and manual opener), other food that doesn't need power to cook, needed medications, etc. Be ready to support yourself, just in case. Same as people in hurricane states are supposed to do (and some do).
