Tsunami west coast Brookings Oregon aftermath clean-up

Tsunami clean-up efforts were undeway when we headed back down to the harbor. Most of the sunk boats had been removed but not all. We also noticed some additional tsunami damage to a fishing unloading dock. This dock sustained serious damage. There was a large concrete block that had also been thrown up on the beach. The weight of this piece of concrete block had to be close to 800-1000 lbs.

The Japanese tsunami devastation down there along the Oregon coast is far worse than I thought it would have ever been, wow, that must have been a terrifying experience to see that massive wall of water coming straight into the harbor obliterating everything in its path.

How many people died in the tsunami that hit Brookings coast and what was the final tax-payer cost of cleaning up the disaster locally?
