Pat Benatar on "Old Grey Whistle Test".

LYRICS:
They cry in the dark, so you can't see their tears
They hide in the light, so you can't see their fears
Forgive and forget, all the while
Love and pain become one and the same
In the eyes of a wounded child
Because Hell
Hell Is For Children
And you know that their little lives can become such a mess
Hell
Hell Is For Children
And you shouldn't have to pay for your love with your bones and your flesh

It's all so confusing, this brutal abusing
They blacken your eyes, and then apologize
Be daddy's good girl, and don't tell mommy a thing
Be a good little boy, and you'll get a new toy
Tell grandma you fell off the swing

Because Hell
Hell Is For Children
And you know that their little lives can become such a mess
Hell
Hell Is For Children
And you shouldn't have to pay for your love with your bones and your flesh

No, Hell Is For Children

Hell
Hell is for Hell
Hell is for Hell
Hell Is For Children

Hell
Hell is for Hell
Hell is for Hell
Hell Is For Children

Hell
Hell is for Hell
Hell is for Hell
Hell Is For Children

Hell Is For Children
Hell Is For Children

From the album "Crimes of Passion" (1980)

  • @Bloody0Martyr... Neil Geraldo is an EXCELLENT guitar player and will never get the credit he deserves for all the success he and his wife had in the 80's.

  • oh Wow guitarist so worthy

  • lol, I first heard this song when I was 11 years old, but I took it the wrong way, and I took it personal. I, myself, was given up by my biological mother at 5, because her parents physically abused (I still have scars on my hands) me. I then was adopted at age 8 by a loving mother but a physically abusive father. So, at the time, I thought Pat was saying that all children deserved to be abused like I was. I was hurt. But someone later told what the song was really about, so all is good. :)

  • @saugusg16 Scott is doing independent gigs. He's my friend on FaceBook. Both he and Roger Capps; they're really cool. Roger is a trip, lol!

  • @heyyouband

I'll be sure to check you out, (the band/video I mean), It's a pleasure to have you here.

  • 2011 and I’m still hitting replay on this song! I LOVE PAT BENETAR! DAMN she can sing her booty off! Her strength, beauty, and kick ass attitude has been such a huge inspiration to me being a female singer! Gotta read her book, between a heart and a rock place! I am in a pop/punk band called HEY YOU. If any of you PB fans would like to give it a try, we just put up a new video, and would love it if you would let us know what you think.... = )

Search: hey you band taking over

  • Does anyone know what happened to the second guitarist Scott Sheets? Also shown here. After recording the 3rd album Precious Time, he vanished into thin air and was never heard from again - in one form or another. All Great Talents in this band. Yes, Neil is very underrated and the second player too!! All great talents!!

  • Damn...the only other person that can match up to pats voice is Ann wilson

  • You need endure your hell no more. TELL, TELL, TELL SOMEone. If they don't get it, tell, tell, tell someone ELSE. Nothing & no one is worth what you are going through.
