First woman lifeguard to be honoured with RNLI medal for gallantry - RNLI Lifeguard Sophie Grant-Crookston has been awarded the RNLIs Bronze Medal for Gallantry for saving the life of a surfer stranded by notoriously confused seas around the rocks at Droskyn Head, south of Perranporth beach, Cornwall on 22 September 2006.
Royal National Lifeboat Instituition (RNLI) service is not HM Government funded. RNLI is funded by voluntary donations, is the charity that provides a 24-hour lifesaving service around the UK and Republic of Ireland. Training is vital to allow volunteers to go to sea and save lives. Please help support the RNLI in the great work they do. They are great, helpful people who always have time for you and any concerns you have regarding safety at sea. Without them, who will be there? Thank you RNLI.
