Os iusti meditabitur sapientiam,
Et lingua eius loquetur indicium.

Beatus vir qui suffert tentationem,
Quoniqm cum probates fuerit accipient coronam vitae.

Kyrie, fons bonitatis.
Kyrie, ignis divine, eleison.

O quam sancta, quam serena,
quam benigma, quam amoena
esse virgo creditur.

O quam sancta, quam serena,
quam benigma, quam amoena,
O castitatis lilium.

The mouth of the just meditate wisdom,
and the trial will speak your language.

Blessed be suffering temptation,
After being tested will receive the crown of life.

Oh lord, a source of goodness.
Oh lord, the divine fire, have mercy.

Oh how sacred, how serene,
how benevolent, how friendly,
That virgin creature.

Oh how sacred, how serene,
how benevolent, how friendly,
oh lily of chastity.

  • is there an mp3 for this? :D

  • @2dfangirl17 I used an MP3 to make this video

  • i am not picking on you or trying to say anything negative about your skills, you have said where they are at. The reason why Kyrie was kept from greek to latin was because if Christ was alive he would have spoken Greek, to the people, and those gentiles would have called out to him Lord (meaning Kyrie) it has more to do historically with what Christ was called than anything else. It is nothing personal towards you, but it is hard for me to let stuff like this go unknown when there is an answer.

  • Yeah... sorry about that...

this may seem out of place, but you know how some people say Jesus was black.

Isn't he from the middle east, and wouldn't that make him more of a brown color

  • i seriously love this song...one of the greatest things i've ever heard....A true master piece!!! The anime is also fantastic...but sad :'(

  • Actually, the language isnt dead, it's kept alive for academical purposes, and its perfectly possible to learn to read it.. the correct way to speak it, however, is likely lost to time.

That being said, its also likely one of the most melodic languages there are, seeing as you can put words in whatever ord you want, making it a perfect language for a beautiful song like this.. thnx for the UL!

  • @DreamingGirl1992 Indeed, my point exactly.

  • @kororf That's what I thought, too. The language being dead just means that there are no native speakers of it left. We still use it for some purposes, but the original speakers are gone.

  • For people picking, indeed this is fucking Latin. Greeck is way different.

  • @kororf It's not dead yet indeed, in our country you can choose (In u.s it's hwen you enter middle school) to learn for Greek and Latin. A lot of people speak it actually if you've got interest in History and such. Included me a lot of students know it.

  • A beautiful melody played in the mind of the killer, seen in the eyes of the victim... One person was victim to Lucy's wrath and clicked the dislike button

  • The mouth of the just shall declare wisdom, And his tongue shall utter a judgement. Blessed is the man who endures temptation, Because once he has proven himself, he shall receive the crown of life. Oh Lord, fountain of goodness, Oh Lord, divine flame, have mercy (upon us.) Oh, how holy, how fair, how kind, how beautiful this maiden is thought to be. Oh, how holy, how fair, how kind are you, lily of chastity. [["the trial will speak your language," huh?]]
  • beautiful <3

  • @imlazee247 'Kyrie' was kept because the gospels were written in Greek first.

Not to mention before the unified Christian church split east from west, Greek was (still is) the religious language of most eastern Christians, Latin became the western church's official language for scripture and so on.

Not because the literally called Jesus of Nazareth 'lord' in Greek (though many speculate that Jesus and of course his disciples were familiar with Greek in trade terms...so you're not wrong).

  • @imlazee247 I hate picking at people who are partially correct, but the common people of the entire Middle East spoke Aramaic. The high priests of Judea and the supposed people of Hebrew origin spoke Hebrew.

Traders spoke Greek, Aramaic(I'm sure there were regional dialects), and some vairantions of Latin for political/trade matters.
