Hehe, I couldn't resist naming my test file Hal_9000 and typing "I'm afraid I can't do that, Dave." within the text editor.

@NuntiusMusicae I am also having this problem

@macheads101 so i can run a command as root with sudo with my user password?
Loading...
I've got a few questions:
- What's exactly the root-password, and where am I supposed to find it? Can I do this since I'm not admin?
- If I type any command with sudo, it shows : "[username] is not in th sudoers file. This incident will be reported". What does it mean?
Thanks for helping me...

@NuntiusMusicae If you are not an admin, the sudo command will and should not work. Also, if you do not know the current root password, you can only change it if you are already an admin. There is no way to actually find the root password without the aid of a password cracker, which is still never a 100% guarantee.

i am not the admin but ik the password for it. When i log onto root in terminal (using the login command) i use the same password as the admin, and it works. although when i use the sudo command it is not the same as the one i would use to log onto root? is it not suppose to be the same?

@jsne10 The sudo command takes the password to the current user logged in (not necessarily root).

@jsne10 If your account does not have a password, you cannot use sudo.
