  • A brilliant musician, sadly no longer with us.

It's worth noting that Ry Cooder, the US producer, was recently fined $100,000 and banned from working in Cuba, thanks to the US embargo.

Apparently elderly Cuban musicians are a threat to US national security.

  • simply superb. THIS is real music. not the shite today.

  • Ruben Gonzalez is one of the Best Piano Player of all time. He is true Cuban legend.I wish he was still live today.

  • @paulostroff99 - Thanks for your feedback. I too hope that better days are ahead for Cuba but its true potential will always be limited as long as the US trade embargo remains in place. I fear a US / Cuba stand-off for the foreseeable future.

Can I assume, from the fact that you've been visiting Cuba regularly since 1957, that you are not a US citizen?!

  • @londonscot1 -I have been going to Cuba since Dec.'57. Cuba has been governed by Castro since Jan.'59. They are the brighest people that I know, and deserve a far better fate than they have gotten. They are also as nice a people as one wants to know. Better days are ahead for these multi talented people-at long last.

  • @paulostroff99 - Agreed. The US embargo of Cuba is an outrage, an anachronistic throwback to the Cold War era and hugely hypocritical.

Great music like Ruben Gonzalez's is just the tip of the iceberg. Cubans are immensely resourceful and hardworking people who don't deserve to be caught in the middle of a political feud. Cuba as a whole deserves the right, same as any other country, to form its own sort of government and to establish trading relations with whoever it likes.

  • @londonscot1 -It would be a ridiculous joke were it not so stupid and sad.

  • epic ! BUT PLEASE why do you cut the video at 1:22 ....that's a shame

  • Thank you Ry!

  • Awesome!

  • I played this melody to my 85 year old mother in mexico a year before she passed, she stopped what she was doing, raised her eyes to heaven and tears began to stream down her eyes, whispering, she said ,I remember holding my mothers hand as a little girl, walking the streets of Mexico city at the turn of the century, you could hear this melody blaring out of the local bars.

  • i want to hear the rest......beautiful.
