This is a test video to see the quality of my camera, the Canon VIXIA HF11
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid...

The files come out as .m2ts format, BUT, if you right click it or just double click the file, click the list of options to select the program to run that file, then click windows media player, and when the window comes up asking you to run, say yes and check the box to not ask again then your video will run no problem! (Just a little tip I learned on my own without having to find a program to watch it)

YouTube EASILY accepts this format RAW, thank God! and so does my editor, but it's cool it accepts it raw ;D - IT ALSO HAS THE "Watch in HD" button INSTANTLY!!! (After processing the video it will have the "Watch in HD" button instantly... So far that's happened with me for two tests, this video is 1 of the 2)

Now, about this video here - this is a raw video of my sister's/mom's two horses (2 of 7) the black one's name is "Justin" and the orange's (to me it looks orange) name is "Angel" and my oldest sister's dog "Penny"

The file I'm uploading/that's uploaded (the one you're watching) is approximately 90.8 MB (95,256,576 bytes) for a 32 second HD 1080i video.

  • Does apple mac book pro accept AVCHD format?

  • @popitn2nd

The box my camera came in says Mac OSX and up are compatible. It comes with its own video player so it will be able to play AVCHD videos I'm sure. I'm not sure however if you can edit in iMovie or not. I know though that AVCHD is editable in Windows Movie Maker.

  • wtf is with the sound on these cameras!!!!! lol! im assuming its just youtube being homo, but still, im worried. the footage looks slightly jittery....i think a TM700k would be safer at this point

  • @kudjo24

Yeah, it's youtubes fault, but they've fixed the .m2ts problem since, so you're safe with canon too atm, lol.

  • you need to bump up ur frame rate buddy!

I'm sorry, YouTube encoded this video 3 times already and it's permanently ruined now. First time, it was like this after processing (Dec of '08) then in Feb of '09 it was re-encoded and it worked fine, 6 or 7 months later up until now, they re-encoded it again and now it's permanently ruined.

I'm starting to upload all of my old .m2ts videos to vimeo and linking them from here, so stay tuned for a vimeo link in the description.

  • got the cam yesterday and man.....wow!!!!! I love it. Im not expert when it comes to being a videographer but the video Im gettin off this cam is puttin a big grin on my face.

This video was shot with the HF11, not the SF11, but Canon itself is a great quality company. All of their cameras are great.

  • I just bought one of these cameras ( havent got it yet ...itll be here in a couple of days ) and one of the things I notice is the video quality these babys put out. All the videos Ive seen here on the toob that were shot with the SF11 have a real sharp broadcast quality to them. Since I plan to post stuff on the toob, this camera was the logical choice for me to make.
