Marie Te Hapuku sings the beautiful Maori love song, "Pokarekare ana". The "choir" in the recording is the audience, who spontaneously joined in her performance.

  • Forget the other opera singers and pretenders - this is the real Pokarekare Ana. Sung from the heart, simply and beautifully and with feeling. You'll never hear it sung better...

Warning: If you're a New Zealander living overseas, it's gonna bring tears to your eyes [sigh]...

  • BEAUTIFUL photographs of the Maori women, and great singing by Marie Te Hapuku.

Tears of joy in my eyes and memories come up when I hear the beautiful love song. Long ago I stayed for quite a while in Aotearoa… In 1985 I have heard in Kaitaia in a marae the song for the first time.

Thank you very much for the great compilation!
