THIS CD is a tribute to a former great trumpet player and bandleader, Mario Ortiz, by his son Mario Ortiz JR( himself a trumpet player) and an all-star cast of vocalists and musicians. It is a contemporary big band sound that is swinging from beginning to end. Outstanding tracks( which is nearly all of them) include El Soplo(Tito Allen), Se Acabo el Bembe( Ismael Miranda), Chinita (Gilberto Santa Rosa), Rumberito( Bobby Cruz and Roberto Roena), Yare Yare( Tony Vega and Pappo Lucca), Para los Bravos( Andy Montanez and co), A Quitarse ( Cheo Feliciano). The salsaton Mambo Infierno and Primi Cruz singing Que Bonito es Puerto Rico are very good too. If you get one salsa/rumba/mambo cd this year I think this is it. DJs should certainly consider adding this cd to their collection.
