  • @dewalt23293 having the gears go bald is scary. how hard is it to manualy switch the gears on a drill? with most drills having two gears not hard at all. how ever i did a torque test on both these drills at home depot. when they changed gears they didnt grind but i imagin when they age theyll start to grind.

  • i have the ridgid auto shift, ridgid impact, ridgid compact drill, and a standard ridgid drill, 2 blue ryobi's and a green ryobi, my fav is the ridgid impact, I barley use my ryobi's and I only use my auto shift ridgid when doing heavy drill work, like lags on a deck, it works great, I'm a one man crew and i have 7 drills...I like tools haha

  • the auto-shift sounds kind of scary, im worried about the strength of the transmission, its just like a manual transmission in a car will always last longer then a automatic, i guess im just used to dewalt and Milwaukee indestructible 3 speed gear boxes, auto shift sounds like a lot of grinding gears. if you have any answers i would appreciate it, ryobi is junk but ridgid is fine. i just don't think they would last on the job site environment

  • I have the ryobi lithium ion batteries and even that ryobi 18 volts is my favorite set I have to say that those batteries (lithium-ion) are crap, one of my new batteries is not working at all, returned the set twice and I still have the same problem, crap crap crap
