"Radio Dinner". Great album. "Pull The Tregroes..." "Deteriorata" "Catch It & Keep It" I think I wore it all the way through before I found Jesus....he'd fallen off my dashboard

The visual throws off the perception of the joke, don't look at it. The whole gag here is how brief the excerpts of songs are (the "Masters of War" bit should make that very obvious). It's satirizing compilation commercials like we still see on TV, so there is no "you had to be there" about it. And it is Christopher Guest.

@sockpuppetmartinez The joke here is a subtle one, and it'll probably be lost on modern audiences. But the gist of it is that the 1960s were a time of high ideals, protests, and violence in the streets, and in this faux commercial they're being sold like just another product. Bob Dylan was thought of as the voice of his generation -- a label he rejected -- and here, he's nothing more than a huckster or a pitchman for some cheesy K-Tel Records-type commercial. Hope this helps.

Whose voice is this?

ROFL. Haven't listened to this in years. I won't let that happen again.

If it doesn't seem funny, it's because the the soundtrack has been augmented with the actual music and all those images. It was funny in the context of the record. It's sort of like how explaining the joke makes it not funny.

@sockpuppetmartinez As I was listening to this, I was thinking - WOW, If someone didn't hear this at the time it came out, they certainly wouldn't get the humor AT ALL - Then I read your comment. I think it's one of those cases where "you had to be there". At the time the idea of a collection like this, let alone someone like Dylan be the voice over - was unheard of, so it came off as ironic humor. Not sure it works as well without that context.

@sockpuppetmartinez hahaha I can't believe you think this is a real commercial!?! Check out National Lampoon...
I am almost sure the voice is Christopher Guest
