From WCBS New York, the open for West 57th, the hipper version of 60 Minutes, some CBS promos, a WCBS Newsbreak and the 11PM Saturday News Open with Jane Velez-Mitchell and Reggie Harris. Especially enjoyable is a promo for an action movie with Carol Burnett and her daughter which probably was a big mistake for everyone involved.

  • 0:46 2:01 That's Meredith, ten & fourteen years before hosting the View & Millionaire. So this is where she got started on television.

  • Oh fuck..

what is this i dont even

  • @JEEminn3000 Yes, back when she was still a real journalist.

  • Is that meredith viera at :46?

  • ..and the Monday night CBS comedy lineup (on my birthday, February 15th) looked like this:

"KATE & ALLIE": "Inside Park Avenue"

"DESIGNING WOMEN": "The Incredibly Elite Bona Fide Blue-Blood Beaumont Driving Club"

    "NEWHART"; "Attention WPIV Shoppers"

    "FRANK'S PLACE": "Shorty's Belle"

  • Actually, this aired on February 13, 1988, 'gameshow', as Carol Burnett's "Hostage" movie aired on February 14th....

  • this same "sitting around talking about the story" concept is now the whole premise of the TMZ television show

  • Yeah, according to People MAgazine at the time, she was a devoted Virginia Slims gal. I was so in love with her back then -- the look, the voice, the attitude... she was something. I don't know what she's doing these days... or if she still is inhaling those Virginia Slims.

The West 57th theme is simply outstanding. One of Edd Kalehoff's best works. I love those classic CBS promos after the intro, and the staff announcer with stylish "This is... CBS" call.

  • Did Jane Wallace smoke? Her voice...

    ...I love it.

  • Sirott is at Chicago's WMAQ now... whew...
