Thank you for a very clear and concise analysis of one of Nathaniel Hawthorne's works.
Do you think the journey is allegory for the knowledge of good and evil as in the Genesis creation? The misery of obtaining the knowledge the expulsion from paradise/ignorance as ignorance is bliss?

@Mahoivlich This is a good interpretation of the story. This view accounts for what happens and the gloomy ending. You can make a good case for it.
