ok i was asked months ago to do a sort of tutorial on the bodhrán and every time I thought of it I either didn't have the bodhrán or didn't have the camera! if you're wondering why i'm talking in such a subdued way it's because i'm in my apartment and don't want anyone to hear me talking to myself haha.

  • My wife bought me one for Christmas and I allready had a good idea how to play it,but your tutorial has really helped me progress. Thank you so much :)

  • @SynthyBassMan thanks very much! god it's strange getting all these nice comments for a video i thought was pretty useless haha :)

  • Left hand placement with ideas?

  • @musicrme46 ok ya I can show you what I do with my left hand!

  • THANK YOU!

I have spent weeks and hours and months going through tutorials and I think your simple explainations, along with up front and clear demonstrations, have done more for me than the technical, sometimes too detailed tutorials! (And the light behind your left hand is perfect.)

Also, for we who cannot be with other Bodhran players, watching your videos was like sitting down with a good friend...

    I am hoping for more!

  • @musicrme46 wow thanks a million! That's really nice of you! :) ya I must do another soon...maybe this weekend. I'm not sure what to do for it though so if you have any questions you want answered or anything you'd like me to go through I'd be more than happy to try! :)

  • Thanks! Anything is fine. :)

  • PS:

I just located and ordered the Heady MEA tipper. Without your videos, I wouldn't have. I am excited to try something new!

    Yeah!!!

  • Well... tips for triplets and rolls are always welcome, but I am finding most tutorials show technic for bent wrist playing over straight wrist. I am watching you play and you don't particularly play a strict bent wrist, which helps me a lot. Rim shots are also taught via bent wrist placement, which has left me wondering if my straight wrist placement is okay. I enjoyed your rim shots at the top of the drum. I do play Kerry style, but bent wrist is pain.

    Any tips for straight wrist?

  • @MotorheadDrew haha fingers crossed! :D
