Conrad Oberg and blues great, John Hammond, Jr., playing after a recent show in Florida. John is one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. Imagine a person that had Jimi Hendrix AND Eric Clapton in his band (at the same time), taking the time to hang out with a visually impaired 12-yr-old after playing his heart out all night! Both were playing Conrad's guitars and took turns playing each. John tuned Conrad's National to Ab for a different song and then played his 12 string in the key of D, performing the Blind Willie McTell classic, Statesboro Blues. Conrad didn't want to miss his chance and jumped in playing everything above the sixth fret. John made Conrad the happiest kid in the world! If you like old school blues music, and John comes anywhere near your town, please go see him....he's just awesome in concert.

Conrad Oberg was born three and a half months prematurely in the Summer of 1994. Weighing only one and a half pounds at birth, Conrad was left with no eyesight in his left eye and only 15% of the vision in his right. At age two, Conrad taught himself to play the piano, and again taught himself the guitar at age ten. Conrad has been performing solo live performances since he was four years-old, and has been fortunate enough to meet and/or perform with some of the greats of the entertainment industry. Conrad has been performing with his own band "The One Elevens" for the past two years, playing his own brand of blues, roots, and rock music. • The first time I saw him play in 1994 I went and talked to him and introduced myself. I saw him a few months later and he remembered my name (John...maybe that is easy). Every time I see him play I always try to say hello. I even asked him if he wanted to come over for dinner and a jam session... He said he had to get paid then be on the road the the next town. He is really talented.

  • That's the same kind of experience Conrad had with Mr. Hammond. A REALLY nice and humble man that will take time out for fans. I just can't begin to tell you how good his show was.

  • I agree. He came to Japan last year. I went up to him after the show. Asked my name immediately. Found him quietly spoken and humble. When I came to leave he signed my CD and did not have to re-ask my name. A gentleman of the highest order.

  • The meeting of the minds! Awesomeness.

  • Hello Conrad I am so happy to see you picking with one of the greats. We emailed each other before. Keep up the good playing......

  • I got to see Hammond in a small club in Virginia back in the '90s. While he was playing he stopped, looked amused, got up and walked off the tiny little stage he was playing on, bent over and picked something up, stepped back up and said, "Had to get my pick, it's the only one I've got!" Met him afterward. One of the nicest people I've ever met, completely genuine and in it for the love of the music.
