When we built our old house we had the wall insulation go all the way to the ceiling on a 12 ft wall that separated the living room from the master bedroom. The DB were cut a lot, hence my Wife could sleep while my home theatre was playing at a decent level. And that was just plain wall insulation not any audio panels.

@RennyConti thinking the same here lol

so 6.5x louder than a normal whisper is as loud as a jet engine ?

Genie clips huh? I will, thx man! I ended up finding some soundproofing material that was used on naval vessels engine rooms, unused and in the box, so I installed those on the walls and ceiling. I used a high rating insulation between the beams, then soundboard, and these sheets of foam panels with a plastic outside sheet and lots of little holes in them over the sound board. Looks good and sound is dramatically improved. As an added benefit the DB level outside was cut substantially.

you need a De-esser. Jen is driving me nuts ;__;
I'm just wondering if the decibels in my "drumming" room right now is about 110, like said in the video, how much would be reduced if I had a wall with one layer of the absorption sheets, 1 layer of drywall, the 3.2 acoustic barrier, wooden studs with nothing between them, and an other layer of drywall after the studs? I don't know how to calculate that.

@edjorthebeast Hi there!
Thanks for your comment. Let's discuss further via phone if you can. I'm certain you can reduce more than 20 dB easily, which is perceived as a 50% reduction of loudness overall. Looking forward to speaking with you!
