A VISIT TO SANTA (1963). Little Dick and Ann are off to bed on Christmas Eve. The brats don't go to sleep as Mother instructed, and the siblings discuss the letter they sent to Santa. It appears Santa is just getting to their letter now, requesting to visit him at the North Pole before Christmas.
Apparently Santa Claus lives in North Pole New Jersey and is known as Vinnie 364 days a year. Vinnieerr Santa's acting class at Maria Giovanni's Learnin' Annix really paid off as you feel like you are right there as he beckons his nambla-esque kept elf. He tells the future pole rider to wake up Dick and Ann and tell them they are going to the North Pole. They board a "magic helicopter" to the pole. I guess the parents are too busy hiding the Swiss Colony Beef Log to notice.
As we pan over Ann's finger-painting art that her Father was using as a coaster for his 40oz, we land in a cheesy makeshift department store toy section . uhmmm I mean Santa's workshop at the North Pole. We are amazed at "the busy elves moving to and fro" i.e. a kid walking out of the doorway with a cheap stuffed dog. Skip to Santa in a Lay-Z-Boy back in Jersey still reading the same note, Dick, Ann and the Priest-bait arrive hand in hand ready for the tour.
As the rug-rats sit on Vinnie's lap, we are blessed with a plethora of unrelated stock footage of other Santa Clauses on boats, parade floats and a rocket of course. Santa takes them back to the mall to visit the "little toy people" i.e the animatronics in the window displays. If you have not stabbed yourself in the eyes with scissors at this point, you will see the various toys in the toy department ...uhmmmm ...I mean Santa's workshop. Notice the casual reference to women with the phrase " she'll cook and scrub the whole day long, then serve a TV dinner ".
All of a sudden, we have to leave on Vinnie's rocket ship back to Jersey where he tells the children that "the entire Christmas celebration is to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ hundreds of years ago". He then burps, or something, and abruptly says "bye".
A Clem Williams Films production.
Merry Christmas.
The End.
Kill me now.
Bye.
