Striper Fishing Madness at Lake Powell

Non-stop Striped Bass fishing at Lake Powell, UT. Note: Lake Powell, UT is overrun with Striped Bass, and they have decimated their forage (food source: shad). The fish and game department encourages you to harvest as many as possible (there is no limit) for the health of the lake and the other fish species, and these fish are the ideal size to eat (larger fish are tougher and contain more mercury).

No catch limit at all? I wonder how fast that lake will die of fish. strippers take a long time to grow. They so small like under sized fish... More like baby size!

I don't think many people understand this fishery. The reason there is no limit (set by the fish and game) is because there are literally too many stripers in the lake... the food source cannot sustain them. They go in cycles every few years.... their forage food (threadfin shad) will get all but wiped out, and then the stripers starve, and many of them die off. Then things get in balance again, the shad populations recoup, and that builds the striper population again. They need to be harvested.

The people you bought fish from or paid for your fish did worse than this. Or even CHICKEN OR ANY MEAT. You killed the animal the second you bought the meat! IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!!
