Part 2 of 2
Here, I explain what the VLOOKUP() function in excel is; what it does; and how it can be useful for you. Note, this is an introduction to the vlookup function and does not cover anything advanced. It will serve to give you a good understanding of how it works and how to use it.

Follow along with the excel spreadsheet used in the tutorial by downloading it at my website. Just navigate to the tutorials section and from there the formulas section:

  • I am coming off a backlog of 2 exams and have an assignment due in 3 hours on vlookup. This has helped me immensely. You are a life saver. Keep up the good work.

P.S: a better quality video would go a long way in making the presentation better.

  • @unaqi88 sorry about the quality. I've made better quality tutorials for vlookup on youtube but they don't seem to rank as high in the search rankings (no idea why this happens).

    Hi

    THanks for the video..very nice'

one question though, what if we have two same family names in the first column?? lets's say Davis (x2)

    thanks again

  • @Naouac This was a very simple example. In your case, you would want to have a unique id number for each user. That way, it would be impossible to have a duplicate. There are a number of tutorials that explain this at teachmsoffice . com

  • You do a much better job of explaining vlookups than my college textbooks do.

  • Thanks!
