  • She's pretty and a good actress, but this is a difficult aria and she barely has the voice the sing it...

  • Well, I would say that I am intelligent enough to not judge her on one performance. Obviously you are not. I never understand why people trash one singer simply because they love another. I love Corelli but that doesn't make me hate Pavarotti. Gheorghiu may be past her prime but she certainly has given many beautiful performances as has her husband. They definitely aren't my favorite singers but i don't feel a need to trash them. So tell me. who should people pay to see?

  • Doesn't really listen? Then please enlighten us ALL, o great master, as to WHAT we shouldd be listening for in this crappy performance? And for the record, I loved Leontyne before I knew ANYTHING about who she was. I love opera, and I love good singing, which this clearly is not. If you think it is, maybe you should re-evaluate who was told to like what, since you're following the mass of morons that love her and her ilk so much.

  • I wasn't really asking. It was a subtle way of saying, you're an ass that doesn't really listen but likes what they are told to like.

  • If you want as near to perfection as you could get...Leontyne Price, of course.

  • So.......who should we listen to?

  • I shall await BeauTenor's next performance at the Met with baited breath.

  • Maybe it's not AG's best work, or even as satisfactory as her CD version, and everyone knows at least 2 people who did the role better (I'll take the Moffo studio and live NYCo Knighton renditions, others love Kiri) and, oh, yes, her mate is an alarming slab of country ham onstage, but this is still my favorite music from Rondine, and less often excerpted than the aria and quartet, so thanks, Onegin65, for spreading such musical pearls before us, even though some commentators get swinish.

  • Yes, apparently she is too good to be bothered with such things. *roll eyes*
