  • @hoops180. 2nd of all if your quoting law 11, please continue to read the whole of the law and not just sections. Please read page 102 of our magic booklet. "gaining an advantage by being in that position means playing a ball that REBOUNDS to him off the goalposts or the crossbar having been in an offside position or a ball REBOUNDS to him off an opponent having been in an offside position. The ball clearly did not rebound as the ball was played. There is only 144 pages to the laws.Read them all.

  • @hoops180. You can look at this in 2 ways. 1st of all read law 11 of our magic booklet. As the player has ATTEMPTED to pay the ball then this must be construded as the 2nd phase of play. So basically he has passed the ball to him. If the defender didn't play it or if it rebounded off him (by accident) then yes you are right to say s/he is offside. Basically it comes down to, if the opinion of the officials did the defender play the ball or did it hit him. I gave a goal like this on last sat.

  • @mrDief95 I heard that Mason is an Everton fan.

  • The ref and the linesman both should have lost their jobs for this.

  • @Tronulas "A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is touched or played by a team-mate is only committing an offside offence if, in the opinion of the referee, he becomes actively involved in play by:

    -Interfering with play

    -Interfering with an opponent

-Gaining an advantage by being in an offside position"

So you're saying Saha didn't gain any advantage from being in an offside position?

  • @Tronulas Well said

  • Welcome to Tottenham Hotspur

  • I think you will find the attacker is on. As the defender has attempted to play the ball, then this becomes a 2nd phase of play (as the attacker wasn't active in the 1st phase). I think every1 needs to know the laws of the game before having an opinion. It happens every week when im reffing. Just dont play the ball and he is off side. Simples

  • @Aezwozere i wouldn't worry mate im an everton fan and the officials can't get everything right, besides its usually us that happens to not you! XD

  • Miles offside. Koscielny's deflected the pass abit but the initial pass still went to its intended target. And he was offside when that initial pass was made. Bad decision, most news article that covered this match said the same thing. Im just glad we came back and won this.
