  • @TimpBizkit So when an cyclist has a very good VO2max (say 80ml/kg/min), it's better than to build muscles when he 's very skinny?

  • Lactate threshold depends on the muscle size and blood supply. Fingers may have a LT of <5 watts, arms may be 100 watts, legs 300 watts. That same person using both legs and arms may then be limited by the cardio to 350 watts or so. Someone can have a decent VO2 max from lots of running but may have skimpy legs with a lactate threshold of 150 watts. These people would feel their legs ache on a bicycle but not be breathing that hard. The opposite can be true with big muscles and weak cardio.

  • thanks for all theses videos! vital information really can make the difference. big shout out from Ireland

  • Carmichael is copying what physiologists have been saying for years and years, since the 80s. Lance never used him for training either, it was just for show because their friends. FTP (60 minute power) is the "gold standard".

  • Chris Carmichael is a good guy, you can tell from his body language that he really has a passion for what he does. Thanks for the videos, Chris.
