The annual Geauga County Airport (7G8) Day was held last September 17, 2011 in Middlefield, Ohio. The airport was a hub of activities with displays of general aviation aircraft, model aircraft, emergency vehicles and a C-123K from the Air Heritage Museum in Beaver Falls, PA. A special tribute was given to WWII veterans. Brief speeches were delivered by airport, county and town officials.
A pancake breakfast was handled by EAA Chapter 5, lunch was served by the Cardinal Athletic Boosters and baked goods were made available by a local Amish school.
To attract future aviators and foster general aviation, Young Eagles flights were sponsored by the EAA Chapter 5 organization. For more info: http://5.eaachapter.org/ .
The Cleveland Soaring Society members lent a supporting role including a glider display and a glider demo flight. This organization is based in Geauga County Airport and offers commercial rides and glider training. For more info: clevelandsoaring.org .
