    a century is a measurement of time consisting of 100 years.

    the 20th century being 1900-2000, 21st being 2000-2100.

    You attempted to correct somebody, who made a correct statement by saying

    "you just turned a 60th century (6000-6100, which has another 4,000 years to happen) into a 21st century (2000-2100, the current classic.

    The first century was years 0 - 99. The second century was 100-199. Following this pattern , 1900-1999 is the 20th century. Like you said, it was introduced in 1961. That's the 20th century.
