You have never needed a nvidia card for physx. ANY game with physx you can have it offloaded to the cpu instead taking a identical performance hit as if I had a Nvidia card, less actually. See Physx on cpu sucked back on dual and single cores. Now adays with 4-12core cpus its not a issue. So dont buy into the Nvidia hype. You have never needed a nvidia card for physx, nor will you ever. Game devs just lock the option out for us AMD guys but a simple ini change fixes that. Enjoy!

For those wondering I have a 6850 with a i5 2500k

@Quicksh0tHD Do you reckon an AMD Athlon II X3 440 (3.0 GHZ, 3 cores) can handle PhysX? My GPU's an AMD HD 6750.

Dont use windows 8 ^_^ ATM windows 8 is horrid for gaming. So much so that valve is pushing for gaming on linux. Personally id love it if gaming moved to linux in the next 10years

Gpu wise no, you have one of the best on the market. But even then a i5 will struggle with intense physx scenes. If you disabled physx id expect to almost never see you drop below 100fps

Why is there a whole nvidia vs AMD debate?
Can't we just get along and conclude consoles are shit?

Some effects don't work without an Nvidia card.

There's no point of doing this through the config as the command in-game changes exactly this.

Do you need to have borderlands on the pc for physx or can you use it on other platforms?

So I did a bit of research myself and enabled physx on my 7850. Since my frame rate isn't great I was wondering if anyone has successfully offloaded physx from the cpu to the igpu that the intel processors have. Why? Because I read that ever high performance cpus aren't as fast as doing calculations as gpus are.
