M.HOUDAI Metroid (1986) easter egg

25 years after Metroid's release this easter egg is still a mystery:
M.HOUDAI's name is shone during the ending. I ignore what triggers this event, I hope someone finds out.
This was a 2º playthrough (press start after you beat the game), and it was played on the wii's virual console, you may want to skip to the end of the video if all you want to see is the easter egg.
