A touch of musical history was made when the ultimate Beatles satirists, the original RUTLES - Eric Idle, Neil Innes, Rickey Fataar and John Halsey, or Dirk, Ron, Stig and Barry - appeared together in public for the first time ever at LA's American Cinematheque to celebrate the Rutles 30th anniversary. RUTLEMANIA, Eric Idle's new RUTLES stage show, was represented by its stars: beatles tribute band The Fab Four, now transformed into RUTLEMANIA. Here's their absolutely live version of the RUTLES song "Hold My Hand," replete with previously taped teenage screams.

this is absolutely brilliant! I LOVE the rutles. i cant believe they still tour. i thought this band was a gag since seeing the film, but no! they actually still play live! this blows my mind more than anything. this is cooler than hearing that the beatles are back toegher and john and george are alive.

I would buy a video of this if they released a professional copy. With that said, thanks for posting it! I've been a Rutles fan ever since I was young and accidentally bought the record at a pawn shop (mistaking it for the Beatles - I was very, very young).

Wish we had gone to that but we did go see Rutlemania and met Eric Idle and Eddie Izzard. Very very cool. I love The Fab Four and hope this show is successful enough for them to do more Rutlemania.
