it seems to me a former addict to pain killers that the only harm i could cause was to myself and when is it the goverments job to protect me from myself if i am truly living in a free country (usa) all drugs should be legal and crime on others should be punished

These guys conveniently leave out the data on suboxone which is that the vast majority of those on it do live stable, productive lives. Methadone has far too much abuse potential because it has no ceiling effect, in other words you can o.d. on it and you can get higher if you take more. Giving ti to an addict and expecting them to police themselves on it is ridiculous and never works. Suboxone does have a ceiling effect, you can't o.d. on it and you can't get high by taking more.
