Interestingly, both Gerry and Nokie are pictured on the back cover of the lp. But the consensus appears that Gerry is playing lead here...

@mlkemper This is from the 10th Anniverary Album - 1970? Then it would be Gerry.

I have this 1971 album. A stirring Shaft theme cover precedes this song. I believe during these sessions the Ventures were a 7-8 member band...

I was 6 when they first started in 1958 and I was hooked. Their music is classic and never gets old. I see and feel the ocean whenever I hear them. They are the beach to me.

The Ventures were the band who's songs I learned when I was 5 or 6. My mom was a huge fan, and still is. I buy equipment just to keep her playing and it works. This clean type sound is great. You can't hide mistakes in the distortion. I wish there were more songs like Calcutta, Apache, etc, etc, but them to choose from. I loved seeing acts like this, and in Phoenix we got a real treat seeing Mancini and his Orchestra or Jazz Ensemble. Les Paul I have seen 2x also. I'll miss Bob, Les, and Henry.

I have now added the original stereo version of this track.
It needed a lot of reworking due to being salvaged from a badly damaged audio cassette tape. I have several copies at various stages of repair but think the newly added stereo copy will do for now. I am still hoping to get hold of a cd version.
I personally love the track and think it's a great cover of the original.
