Brilliantly playing one of the most difficult compositions ever written for the piano and once thought to be impossible to perform, pianist Wei Xin Zhou of Shanghai, China, won the Intermediate Solo First Prize at the recently completed 2007 Virginia Waring International Piano Competition in Palm Desert, California. This performance took place April 1, 2007 at The McCallum Theatre, Palm Desert. COPYRIGHT2007VWIPC

  • u know what the worst thing!! the most difficult piano piece was done perfectly with this guy.. BUT.. why always the most difficult pieces sounds awful!? i mean the fur elis, moonlight, and other very simple pieces are always the best while the most difficult sounds too much and not joyable!!

  • Asians.... :(( respect!

  • there truly are amazing people in this world

  • Impossibru, it's one of those western pianos that play on a coin, you won't fool me.

  • Asian dad:

Good... now play it with your feet

  • @wagneristhebest I agree with you 100%, as a musician (or high trying one) it is very difficult to excel not only when some of these kids are getting it note perfect, but being rewarded for it

  • This is really not very impressive compared to the kind of things you see in 2012. Just yesterday I watched a 10-year old chinese boy give a perfect rendition of Liszt feux follets in a competition, and a few months ago I had watched another note-perfect rendition of Chopin opus 10 no.2 by a 11 year-old. Will any of these kids become concert pianists? It's hard to say. It's more than just practice. Music is an art not an athletic sport.

  • Whenever you think you're good at something, remember there's always a Chinese kid way better than you at it.

  • He's f---ing Chinese. What would you expect?

  • Oh come on, this piece is not *impossible* to play, since many great pianists have played it. Plus, he's playing it under-tempo. so he's not super-human, just a really good pianist
