Thanks to the generous permission granted by Geoffrey Fushi of Bein & Fushi Inc., here we have a remarkable video of Kristof Barati playing the Giuseppe Guarneri (del Gesù) violin of 1741 formerly owned by Henri Vieuxtemps, a pivotal figure in the development of modern violin technique in the 19th century, and teacher of Eugène Ysaÿe among others. The work is H.W. Ernst's transcription of Schubert's "Erlkönig." Video copyright © 2008 Kristof Barati and Bein & Fushi Inc. Posted with permission. The violin is available for sale; the asking price is US$18 million.
