The HIT Lab NZ has been working with PVO in Christchurch to visualize what the city looked like before the devastating February 22nd earthquake and what it could look like in the future. Using Augmented Reality technology on mobile phones people can walk through the streets of Christchurch and see virtual buildings put back in place where the real buildings used to be. The technology can be used to show the buildings that used to be there as well as possible designs for future buildings. It could be used by visitors to the city as well as architects and urban planners who want to show the city residents what the future could be like and get community feedback.
