yo privetricker, i think you might be able to answer this question. i wanna know what was the precise cause why Robert Plant lost his voice, because in the begginning he sounded awesome (even live) and around 1974-75 he lost it all. you think it was his accident?

@privettricker oh come on, you can go deeper than that. Some singers keep their voice until their 60s. I read once that it was because he tried too hard singing Over the hills and far away during the 75 tour and ruined his voice forever after.

@chillraph I don't know where you might have read that, but he only tried to sing Over the Hills like the album version on some of the 72 tour dates. By the time 75 came around, he'd been singing it without the high parts for several years. The combination of relentless touring during Zeppelin's early years and Plant getting older are very likely the primary reasons for his vocal problems starting around 73. I'm 43 and there's no way I could sing like I did 20 years ago.

@chillraph What do you mean by lost his voice? I don't think he lost his voice at all. He won 5 grammies for Raising Sand just a few years ago. He sounded great next to Allison Krauss. He sounds great in his most recent ensemble - Band of Joy and he has won numerous music awards in the UK. He has been staking up awards for the few years.

I can feel a lot of Zep vibe about Plant's voice here. And the answer lies in...the fact that John Bonham, never played Rock and Roll as good as the performance on the Song Remains the Same. Plants voice also would never be as good as those years. Rock and Roll and Plants voice sort of hit their peak, and well, that's that.
