The touchscreen functions will not work underwater as a barrier is created between your finger and the screen. If wanting to still take photos or videos underwater, you will need to use either of the volume buttons located on the left-hand side of your iPhone. Hope that helps!

Oh, these looks awesome! I ordered a Proporta BeachBouy last week for my trip to South Africa where I will be doing some great white shark cage diving.
