Barney Kessel (October 17, 1923 -- May 6, 2004) was an American jazz guitarist born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, USA. He was a member of many prominent jazz groups as well as a "first call" guitarist for studio, film, and television recording sessions. Kessel was a member of the group of session musicians known as The Wrecking Crew.

This guy was also the "hands" that played guitar in the "Jim Lindsey" episode of the Andy Griffith Show when the guitar player was in jail - The actor holding the guitar was James Best (Roscoe P. Coletrain) but Barney was really doing the picking..

@woodbell67 Yeah, I have all the bells and whistles on my rig from multi effects to distortion and do sometimes use them sparingly, but there is nothing like the sound of a great jazz player just going direct and letting his fingers do the talking. I bought this DVD for six bucks. It has live performances from Joe Pass, & Grant Green to Wes Montgomery and many others. Glad you enjoyed it. These cats left a great legacy, the great American tradition of jazz and bebop.
