@chopkinsss Sorry - Just saw your reply. The wheels make a big difference, they add a little extra weight low down, they also have a better profile and a slightly deeper flange so they are less likely to derail. Original Mamod and MSS wheelsets also tend to become loose on the axles and can shed their crankpins, being steel the crank pins are securely press fitted in.

I like your unique loco and I noticed you were using the £25 loco wheels set, I was wondering whether these wheels are worth this price - it there a definet improovment? - would you recoment them to me? And why? Many thanks, great locomotive

You really notice the difference the gas burner makes - my spirit fired one soon runs out of pufff when run free like this. I found that the cylinders took about 2 hours running before they were smooth when hot (they are much stickier with steam than air). G

These O ring cylinders seem to improve the more they are run, I have an IP Jane which I purchased 2nd hand, I've had it for two years running it fairly extensively and it seems to be running smoother every time I run it!
