@omdatikloop It is called hunting. We hunt animals, and yes they are beautiful. We hunt them to maintain healthy populations and in some cases to rid the countryside of feral pests. We eat what we kill and we kill it humanely (within seconds) with archery equipment. Game animals are not the cage raised table fare that you are likely used to, but they work just fine on my table. Mother nature provides but 3 ends for animals. Starvation, disease or predation which is more humane?

@Illiasc Great points all!. The natural order provides a process whereby, people and animals eat to survive. Man is quite capable of "producing" food. One method of production allows natural selection and personal skill to be involved. That is called hunting. I believe that the self reliance required to produce a meal by your own hands is not only important to build skills required to live, but it provides the hunter with appreciation for what some people see as nothing more than wildlife.

@omdatikloop How do you suppose meat is made? An animal approaches someone and dies? Also, wild game is far healthier and far more humane than eating beef or poultry from the store. Many people hunt to EAT. Consider that your chicken from the restaurant, store, etc, grows to 10+ lbs in just 1-2 months, so fast that it may break a leg, will die of a heart-attack or sickness or suffocation often before even slaughtered, and lives in a cramped room with no sunlight and abundant fecal matter.

@FilmerOfBobcats Hunting hogs in TX is a 24/7 pursuit. Deer hunting lasts from a half hour before sunrise to a half hour after sunrise. What I wonder is why people don't educate themselves regarding these regulations. Hunting is a pastime that gets people out into nature. Killing is not always the result, but for those of us that follow the rules, conservation, is always the result.
