A live version of a great lesser known cut off the band's sophomore effort, the platinum-selling CD "Reach the Beach". These same five guys are still together touring and recording. Never miss them if they are playing near you. They are a great live band.
Lyrics:
Watching, waiting Playing, who's who
Don't play to win To be second to you
The door will open When I suffer enough
Who'll hold this hand When the going gets rough
Such good intentions Always nipped in the bud
What do you expect? Well, you never could
If I stop laughing Just to be at your door, oh
Always opinions Turning you round
Always opinions Turning you down
I don't play chess But I could play with you
Not much impressed Not who do you do
I saw it coming You saw it his way
Always opinions Turning you round
Always opinions Turning you down
Never decisions, oh Letting me know
Always conditions Turning you round
I want you to draw the line
Why can't you make up your mind?
I know about you But what about me? Yeah
Excuses all the time Blew away with high insight
No more good advice So what about me? Yeah
I'm playing who's who, oh, oh
Who would have thought This would turn into fact
The door's wide open You've lost your act
I saw it coming You saw in his way
Always opinions Turning you round
Always opinions Turning you down
Never decisions, oh, oh Letting me know
Always conditions Turning you round
So now you've taken over
I'm playing who's who
I'm playing who's who

This was the first album I bought. I always loved the "O" songs at the end of each side: Outside and Opinions.

I grew up to The Fixx. Mainly "Reach The Beach". I felt their music spoke to me and it inspired me to be a songwriter.

Looks like the opening of "Contact," it fits though, in the grand scheme opinions don't really matter in the scope of the universe.

This was my favorite on the album....can someone share the album version plz. I think they do a great job at making the song ascend and crash back down at the end. The live version didn't do it for me.

The rhythm is slightly different. Very interesting version of this song. Almost progrock-ish....
