mercer trails and most all of iron county trails for that matter are always bad, in that area the ruts are as deep as rivers. Head south, take the railway to 182 take 182 to springstead road. follow that all the way down, it will end at a trail. That trail system is the one you want to ride. Be warned though its very technical and its definitely one to take easy the first time your riding. During the day there is lots of on coming traffic from both ways best to ride at night ,bring a trail map
