Oakland Policeman Throws Flash Grenade Into Crowd Trying To Help Injured Protester

Footage from the Occupy Oakland protest, October 25th, 2011. After protesters ran to the aid of a badly-injured person, Oakland Police deliberately lobbed a flash grenade into the crowd. Whatever you think of the Occupy movement, police behavior of this kind is criminal and should be prosecuted.

Who had a fence in between them and far outnumbered the few people that were left? Were any of these people armed? Non of them were doing anything other than trying to help someone who was hurt. 99% of the crowd had clearly dispersed.

@lyricsfromsweden Okay, we will try to have an intelligent conversation. Yes, I would have thrown the gernade. Why? 1. To keep the group away from me, at a safe distance from the police line. 2.Impulse. You suddently have a large crowd that converges near you, who could potentially hurt you, so you throw the grenade. Another thought, it is very common for a group that is on the verge of roiting to explode once a single individual gets hurt. So the police tried to avoid a potential threat.
