Khodorkovsky on hunger strike against 'improper court rulings'

Russia's former richest man, who's in prison for fraud and tax evasion in Siberia, has gone on hunger strike. Mikhail Khodorkovsky was the tycoon who owned the now defunct oil firm Yukos. He's protesting against what he calls 'improper court rulings'.

@abarzilai664 I doubt you understand the political problem "Vlad and K" were trying to solve with this, but "focusing on Khodorkovsky and not others" made perfect sense within that frame of reference. Btw, it wasn't only Khodorkovsky - although he is the only one who ended up behind bars, rather than a fugitive in London.

Khodorkovsky was arrested because he opposed Putin, who was threatened by him. Khodorkovsky committed no crime. There is no democracy in Russia. Few of my friends were in Siberia & they were shocked by the conditions there. Russia has long way to go towards justice, democracy, human rights, etc.

Khodorkovsky is a brave man. His real crimes were having a lot of money and being opposed to Putin. He was threatening. Russia is a little insecure about things like that because the government owns 60% of the news papers and freedom of the press in Russia is plagued with self-censorship for fear of a government that does things like this to people who are opposed.
