  • Haha i type around 90WPM average. I would love to type on that :)

  • @tnralliart2600

old sega megadrive(genesis) gamepads work as well!!

  • nice

  • well SID chips are becoming hard to come by.

  • A C64 can't run notably slower because the system is dependant on an accurate clock. Basically, if you're clock is slower, your display won't sync and you won't see anything on your display. You probably remember it being faster then it actually was because you ha more patience when you last used it ;-)

  • Even so, why do people necessarily assume it was working? My old C64 probably won't even turn on these days. Last time I used it not all the keys worked, ran notably slower and was having lots of problems with power supply etc. Not to mention it's useless without a joystick (good luck finding one). At least putting the keyboard enclosure to good use like making an instrument to show off at nerd parties is better than keeping something that doesn't work. Then again, it may have worked perfectly.

  • OH NO SOMEONE TOOK APART A WORKING COMMODORE 64

Who cares. These parts are much more worthwhile as an instrument. And it's not like the world has a shortage of working c64s. Go to ebay, or better yet, a garage sale.

    Great instrument. Clever encasement.

  • Just a note (for people assuming the C64 is generating these sounds) This is not the SID chip! The sample rate is not low enough and there is no audible aliasing (which occurs when playing back digital samples; which is a hack anyway) If you look at his site you'll see it is just using the C64 keyboard via some homebrew electronics to trigger a drum machine externally via midi. If it used the SID chip I'd be much more impressed.
