vintage synth demo by RetroSound

Sequential Circuits Prophet 600 Analog Synthesizer (1982), the first synth with Midi;
the demo shows the different sound settings (VCO, VCF, Sync, Filter-FM) and some self-made retro sounds

For me one of the most underrated analog synths ever. The sound is fantastic, a bit different to the big brother Prophet-5.

  • Thanks for making the sound such good quality, we can really hear what it's like : )

  • @itsthenoise

    :))

    thx

  • does the tuning knob go to any frequency or does switch between set frequencies? (like the jk-8p for example)

  • @UnchainTheNight1

    any frequency

  • what is your oninion on the differnce between the pro 5 and the 600?

the 600 seems a bit darker and not as "sweet" and "round" sounding as the pro 5...

  • @malteberg

the complete sound is different. the P600 filter sound is harder and not so sweet

but this is a very nice synth, very underrated

  • roland, korg and yamaha should make these kind of synths again! they sound so much better than this multiworkstation-plastic-crap..

  • Still absolutely love this video... Such great sound

  • where can i get one just like dat one from?i couldnt find any

  • how much would you suggest paying for one in american dollars?

  • @210acer Good question. Why is it this sounds superior to any analog or digital synth on the market...yet it's no longer being produced? I can tell you that the Arturia MiniBrute is a true VCO synth and although it doesn't sound like the Prophet series of synths, it has a strong presence and sweetness indicative of a true VCO synth. Even the moogs in current production don't sound vco-like because they don't use true unaltered vco architecture.

  • @UnchainTheNight1 Or both...

  • The sounds at the begining reminds of Underpass by John Foxx.

  • 2.40 and 6.20 are remarkable examples of what this synth excels at!

What fx/mixer were you using....? I have to know!!! :p

    Again, quite SUPERB Demo!!
