In honor of National Library Week, the Westchester Library System (WLS) recently held its 18th annual Book & Author Luncheon at Abigail Kirschs Tappan Hill in Tarrytown, NY. The event featured four talented authors who each discussed their newly published books and reflected on the role libraries have played in their lives. The Luncheon is sponsored by Con Edison, Entergy, and the H.W. Wilson Foundation.
Authors featured at the Luncheon were Dave Donelson, author of Heart of Diamonds; Hallie Ephron, author of Never Tell A Lie; Marek Fuchs, author of A Cold-Blooded Business; and Laura Lippman, author of Life Sentences. Terry Kirchner, WLS Executive Director and event host, presented Entergy Nuclear with the 2009 National Library Week Recognition Award for their unwavering support of libraries and library services in Westchester. Con Edison, the Luncheons presenting sponsor since its inception in 1990, received the 2009 Outstanding Collaborative Energy & Support Award.
The Book & Author Luncheon is a time to celebrate the contributions of libraries and librarians as well as to promote library use, said Kirchner. A special thank you to our outstanding authors, sponsors, and committee members who helped make this years event a tremendous success. We are also proud to recognize Entergy Nuclear for their continued support of WLS and its member libraries.
