This is me responding to my landlord's attempt to cut down the tree with a hatchet. After the strap broke, this seemed like the effective way to take out the tree.

Vehicle: 1990 GMC K1500. Stock 350 TBI V8 with around 300K on the motor and a 700R4 transmission. Flowmaster Super 40 muffler and thunderbolt cat.

If you look carefully, you'll notice the right front and left rear tires spinning. I was in 4LO the whole time.

  • @xtelevisionset It would have just been one more black mark. And the driver could have done that just by applying the brakes, if that was his goal, to leave 4 black marks.

The system worked exactly as it was designed.

That is a pick up, those are designed for work, so they don't often have toys, like lockers, in them, especially in the front.

Although I'm sure he could buy one, if he wanted to waste the money.

  • @l337pwnage It has no locking diff, it was giving power to the tires with no traction and cutting power to the tires with traction. Definitely a fail.

  • @xtelevisionset actually it worked exactly as it was designed too. Again, you do not know how 4wd systems work.

I'm guessing you didn't even understand what I wrote, as you didn't have any questions about it.

  • @l337pwnage So it did fail

  • @xtelevisionset In this case I have to assume you are commenting because you didn't see the drivers side front wheel spin, but, only you know what ideas were bouncing around in your head.

However, I will have to take that guess, and if that is the case, the reason that happens is due to open differentials in the front which split torque 50/50 between the axles. This is done for 3 reasons.

    1) so you can steer.

    2) It increases driveline life/reliability.

    3) It decreases cost.

  • @l337pwnage Enlighten me on how it works and why it didn't fail.

  • Much faith in your CV joints, you have. ;)

    Definitely a safe method, tho.

  • @xtelevisionset You don't understand how 4wd works.

  • This is the result of your parents being brother and sister.

  • The only thing you were missing was the chain to bust the back window but looks like fun if the truck is a POS.
