3D rendering from high resolution x-ray CT. Bone (red) can be seen growing into polycaprolactone scaffold (white). Host bone is at the bottom. This scaffold/bone construct was imaged after implantation into the orbital socket of a sheep. The design of the scaffold (porosity, permeability) is critical in establishing a vascular supply to the bone.
